Sharon A. Newman

Sharon A. Newman, 73, of Danforth passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born on November 29, 1948 in Chicago, the daughter of Richard D. and June (Firnhaber) Bachechi, Sr. They preceded her in death along with one brother, Richard D. Bachechi, Jr. and her fiancée, Ryland Siems.

She is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Brian) Siems of Peoria; her son, Ryan (Anne) Lee of Middleton, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Taylor Siems of North Hollywood, California, Natalie Siems of Peoria, Gabrielle Lee and Frederick Lee of Middleton, Wisconsin, and one niece, Brandi Bachechi of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Sharon was a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary in Gilman. She was an avid reader and served on the Gilman Library Board. Sharon was a reporter for several years for the Gilman Star and reported on the city council meetings. She worked for many years as the secretary to the States Attorney of Iroquois County. In earlier years, she also served as the Iroquois County Deputy Coroner and was an EMT for the Gilman Ambulance.

Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date at the Danforth Cemetery in Danforth.

Memorials may be made to the Gilman Library or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Arrangements are by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
