M’Liss Lynn Long, 68, of Watseka passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at her home. She was born on October 25, 1954 in Watseka, the daughter of Robert and Vivian (Davis) Long.
Surviving are her three children, Taryn (Darin) Clatterbuck of Martinton, Jared Ward of Watseka, and Jess Ward of Philadelphia, PA; her nephew, Tyler Long and his two children; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one grand dog.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; two brothers, Tyson and Vincent Long; and one uncle, Wayne Davis.
M’Liss was born and raised in Watseka where she built friendships that lasted her lifetime. After graduating high school, she adventured around the country, road tripping West, and working at her Uncle Wayne’s restaurant in the DC area. After many years, she returned to Iroquois County to raise her children with her family and the community that raised her. She contributed to her community for over thirty years by writing and producing her radio show, Timeout. It was one of her greatest joys to share stories with and offer wisdom to her radio listeners. Another passion was digging in the dirt, growing flowers and plants that she shared with the people that she loved. She believed kindness was the most important thing.
