Joseph J. Berens, 87, of Kankakee passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Piper City Rehab & Living Center. He was born May 27, 1935 in Kankakee, the son of Ferdinand and Anna (Kampwirth) Berens and they preceded him in death in addition to three brothers, Arnold, Walter and Leo Berens and one sister, Mary Settles.
Joseph is survived by two sons, Gary (Tammy) Berens of Cullom and Dan (Chris) Berens of Bourbonnais; four grandchildren, Briana (Brian) Stephens of Piper City, Mitchell Galloway of Benson, Nathan (Dakota) Berens of Fenton, MO and Hayden Berens of Bourbonnais; five great-grandchildren, Archer, Fletcher and Rowan Stephens and Charlotte and Theodore Berens; and one sister, Ann Ruder of Herscher.
Mr. Berens served in the U. S. Army and was a partner in Berens Machine Tool & Die in Kankakee.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
