James L. "Jim" Smith

James L. "Jim" Smith, 68, of Cissna Park passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at his home in Cissna Park. He was born on October 30, 1954 in Hinsdale, IL, the son of Ovie and Arlene (Hansen) Smith. He married Debbie Baker in Hoopeston on June 15, 1974.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Smith of Cissna Park; two sons, Nate (Ali Eilers) Smith of Cissna Park and Aaron (Paula Silver) Smith of Claytonville; six grandchildren, Anne Hamilton, Grace Hamilton, Ian Camacho, Finn Smith, Theo Silver, and Isabella Smith; two brothers, Mike (Leonila) Smith of Texas and Ben (Alora) Smith of Rossville; and one sister, Cindy Smith of Texas.

Mr. Smith was preceded in passing by his parents.

Jim enjoyed working, mowing, and riding his Harley. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Christian Bible Church in Cissna Park.

Cremation rites are being handled by Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 am 12:00 noon. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Amity Cemetery in Goodwine.
