James "Jim" Louis Goldenstein

James "Jim" Louis Goldenstein, 36, of Springfield passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1986 in Kankakee, a son of Jay and Doris "Charlie" (Meier) Goldenstein and they survive in Onarga.

Also surviving are his brother, Joel (Jill) Goldenstein of Gilman; three nieces, Hadlee, Olivia, and Annalise Goldenstein of Gilman; paternal grandparents, John and Judy Goldenstein of Danforth; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Delores Meier; uncle, Jake Peters; and godfather, Steve Hemp.

Jim was the Director of District Operations for the Illinois Senate Republican Party. He was a member of the University of Illinois Farmhouse Fraternity. He loved Fighting Illini sports and his dog, Oscar. Jim especially loved spending time with his family and his nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley with Rev. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Buckley. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the church and also one hour prior to the funeral.

Memorials may be given to the St. John's Lutheran School in Buckley or to Christ Lutheran High School in Buckley.

Arrangements are being handled by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
