James Holly Bertrand

James Holly Bertrand, 79, of Watseka passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Symphony of Joliet in Joliet. He was born on December 10, 1941 in Watseka, the son of Bessie Bertrand and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one son, Jordan Alexander Bertrand.

He is survived by one daughter, Chanin Daily of Boswell, IN; one son, Chad (Kathy) Bertrand of Watseka; and five grandchildren, Celsey Delahr, Dylan Delahr, Conner Daily, Larissa Bertrand, and Gabe Bertrand.

Mr. Bertrand served in the US Army and also served on the Watseka Police Department for 27 years. He enjoyed sitting at the park and watching traffic, riding his motorcycle, and rebuilding cars as he was a mechanic wiz. He had a gifted musical talent yet he could not read a note. Mr. Bertrand played in several different bands over the years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at 1:15 p.m. at G.A.R. Cemetery with Joe Hughes officiating.
