Jackie L. Carter, age 90 of Piedmont, formerly of Watseka, IL, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the St. Claire Hospital in Fenton, MO. She was born September 1, 1931 at Bounds Creek in Wayne County, MO, the daughter of Asa and Iva Lee (Bounds) White.
Jackie was raised in Wayne county and married George Carter January 1, 1954 at Piedmont. She received her Bachelors Degree in Education from the Southeast Missouri Teachers College in Cape Girardeau and taught school in Ironton and Columbia, MO and Watseka and Crescent City, IL. She and her husband lived in Watseka for many years. After her retirement, she and George returned to Piedmont.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Iva Lee White.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, George Carter, of the home, two children, Jeff Carter and his wife Ruth, of Homewood, IL, Leigh Erin Carter, of Minneapolis, MN, one grandson, Owen Carter, of DeKalb, IL and many cousins and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont.
