Donald D. "Don" Meier

Donald D. "Don" Meier, 87, of Chebanse passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born on May 8, 1935 in Clifton, the son of Delbert "Buck" and Erma M. (Johnson) Meier. Don married Velma Jean Potts on August 31, 1957 in Chebanse and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2016.

Surviving are one daughter, Val (Fred) Turner of Kankakee; two sons, Marvin (Michelle) Meier of Bourbonnais and Richard Meier of Watseka; grandchildren, Adam Meier, Sean (Ashley) Meier, Meghan Meier and Bailey Meier; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Luke Meier, Aubrey Meier, and Gavin Williams.

Don was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allen Meier; and one sister, Darlene Kult.

Don was a member of the United Church of Chebanse. Don was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Korean War and was a member of the Clifton Central VFW Post 2131. He also enjoyed being a member of the Aroma Park Boat Club and the Clifton Sportsman's Club. Don worked for Roper for 26 years. He also worked for GNB for 13 years where he served on the Activity Committee.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton with Rev. Dan Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse. Visitation will be two hours prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion in Chebanse or to the Family's Wishes.
