Dolores Mae Brown

Dolores Mae Brown, 92, of Chebanse passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Riverside Miller Healthcare in Kankakee. She was born on March 22, 1930 in Chebanse Township, the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Vimpeny) Gierke. She married Laverne N. Brown in Joliet, IL on May 27, 1950 and he preceded her in passing on January 9, 2002.

Surviving are two daughters, Pam (Darrell) Fowler of Chebanse and Darla Brown of Bradley; two sons, Bob (Denise) Brown of Bourbonnais and Ron (Lisa Donahue) Brown of Manteno; one son in law, Raymond Sthay II of Bonfield; one sister, Norma Meier of Clifton; six grandchildren, Ray Sthay III (Ernie Hernandez-Sthay) of Kankakee, Amy (Steve) Graham of Dundee, MI, Steve (Katie) Fowler of Danforth, Sara Butterbrodt of Vandalia, Erin (Jake) Bessler of Dover, DE, and Erica Brown of Sugar Grove, IL; nine great grandchildren, Amanda (Joshua) Jenkins, Tessa Graham, Damon Fowler, Jersey Fowler, Joshua Hellman, Logan Noll, Belle Bessler, Gavin Fontaine, and Isaac Bessler; one great great granddaughter, Everleigh Rose Dickinson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in passing by three daughters, Deborah Sthay, Linda Brown, and Cheryl Brown.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed count-n-cross stitch, crocheting, playing cards, and bowling. She loved to spend time with her family and took great pride in crocheting items for every one of them. She worked at Bear Brand Hosiery, was a cook at Chebanse Elementary School, and enjoyed her time as a homemaker.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Pastor Patrick Jenkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home, from 10:00-12:00 pm.
