Daniel B. Zbinden, 83, of Cissna Park passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Hoopeston Regional Health Center in Hoopeston.
Dan was born on June 10, 1939 in Cissna Park, the son of Benjamin and Margaret (Heuer) Zbinden. He married Imogene M. Koester on October 21, 1961 at Ash Grove and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2014. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Maynard and Ernie Zbinden; and six sisters, Viola Kugler, Vera Zbinden, Irene Vogel, Marceille Parcell, Wilma Wyss, and Beulah Reed.
Surviving are two sons, Jay Zbinden of Cissna Park and James Zbinden of Danville; two daughters, Jeanne (Mark Grogan) Stebbins of Milford and Jolene Mainer of Sugar Land, TX; seven grandchildren, Anthony (Reilly) and Macy Stebbins and Kaiti (Josh) McWilliams, Ben, Levi, David, and Zackary Zbinden; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Sutton Stebbins; a special friend, Donna Gilmore of Cissna Park; and one brother, Ray "Spider" Zbinden of Aroma Park.
Dan was a member of Living Word Church in Roberts. He graduated from Cissna Park High School in 1957 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961. When returning, he ran the milk route delivery for Harold Frohling, worked for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation, began farming, and was the owner and operator of Zbinden Well Drilling. Dan retired from the U.S Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Cissna Park after thirty-five years of service.
Visitation will be from 12:00 until the 2:00 p.m. funeral services on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Pastor Brian King will officiate. Burial will follow at Cissna Park Cemetery with graveside military rites by Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
