Charles E. Read

Charles E. Read, 73, of Bourbonnais, formerly of Piper City, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Citadel of Bourbonnais. He was born on August 21, 1950 in Fairbury, a son of Edwin E. and Helen L. (Montelius) Read.

Charles is survived by two brothers, John D. (Donna) Read of Mesa, Arizona and Roger M. (Shirley) Read of Piper City; one sister, Barbara (Gary) Johnson of Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judith Orr; one brother-in-law, Jerry Orr; two nieces, Dawn Bertrand Johnson and Meri Sue Orr; and one nephew, Randy Read.

Charles enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He also loved farming and doing crossword puzzles.

Funeral services will be at a later date. Burial will be in the Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Piper City Rehab and Nursing Home in Piper City.
