Charles Garyon Hurt

Charles Garyon Hurt, 81, of Crescent City passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. He was born on June 1, 1941 in Piper City, the son of Denver and Zella Hurt. He married Mary E. Creek in Watseka on June 11, 1966.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Hurt of Crescent City; one son, Bradley (Tonya) Hurt of Clifton; one brother, Marshall (Devanna) Hurt of Gilman; two granddaughters, Kyra (Joshua) Wolfe and Kali Hurt; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Hurt of Gilman and Marge Hurt of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Mr. Hurt was preceded in passing by his parents; two brothers, Euel and Phillip; and one grandson, Kolin.

Mr. Hurt was a member of Trinity Church in Watseka and loved serving his church. He was an avid Cubs, Bears, and Indy Car Racing fan. He worked at Armstrong World Industries in Kankakee for 44 years and 71 days. He also served in the Illinois Army National Guard.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Trinity Church in Watseka. Pastor Ryan Mustered, Pastor Mike Pueschell, and Pastor Bart Koester will officiate. Burial will follow in Gilman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 am service on Friday at church.

Arrangements are being handled by Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
