Carol Ann Spielman

Carol Ann Spielman (nee Grueneich) of Gilman, formerly of Chicago and Lodi, California, passed away on November 2, 2021. She was born on November 3, 1937. Carol was married to James R. Spielman and they had recently celebrated 65 years of marriage and he survives. Carol is also survived by her children, Jack (Rebecca), Charles (Kathleen) and Cindy, her grandchildren Izu, Gabriella, Grace, Jordan, James, Makayla and Jacqueline; her great-grandchildren Hayden, Leopold and Oliver; and her siblings-in-law Charles, Richard (Lynn), Thomas (Judy) and Margaret (Daniel). Carol was preceded in death by her parents Nathaniel and Esther Grueneich and her siblings, Nathaniel, Nohna and Lois.

Carol enjoyed working on the computer to research and write three books on family history, compile yearly photos on CD videos for family members, and create and play puzzles. Carol made holidays memorable with her delicious home baked cookies and breads, and family reunions tasty with her homemade apple slices. Her cookies helped her win the heart of the love of her life "Jimmy". Carol loved knick-knack and antique stores, like The Gathering, and shopping for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Carol loved all the times she and Jim threw "picnics" on the farm, and family and friends came from all over to spend the day playing volleyball and baseball, eating a pot luck meal from food everyone brought, and sharing a great time together. With that in mind, and due to COVID, a memorial service will be held on the farm at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in Carol's memory would be welcomed.
