Porfirio Garcia Sr.

Porfirio Garcia Sr., 71, of Onarga passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his residence. Porfirio was born on September 15, 1950 in Pharr, TX, the son of Ysidro and Petrolina (Zuniga) Garcia and they preceded him in death along with two brothers, Silvestre Garcia and Ramon Villanueva. He married Maria Lopez on March 19, 1977 in Gilman and she survives. Besides his wife, Maria Garcia of Onarga, he is survived by three children, Porfirio Garcia Jr. of Hoopeston, Laura (Otilio) Aguilera of Buckley and Nora (Ben) Harroun of Onarga; three grandchildren, Marissa, Gabriela, and Julian; and two brothers, Jose Luis (Amelia) Garcia of Onarga and Pedro Garcia of Gilman. Porfirio was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilman. He enjoyed music, cooking out, NASCAR, and most of all, his grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilman. Fr. Marek Herbut will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.
