Pete Offill

June 22, 1947 - July 31, 2021

Pete Offill, 74, of Gilman passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home in Gilman. He was born on June 22, 1947 in Watseka, the son of Herschell William Sr. and Betty Jane (Harrison) Offill and they preceded him in death along with his mother-in-law, Patricia (Siegfried) Fingerhut; father-in-law, Robert Fingerhut; four brothers-in-law, Errol Rottman Sr., Rich Wrede, Barrie Blood, and James Lane; and one unborn child & greatgrandchild. He married Barbara Fingerhut in Gilman on January 13, 1973 and she survives. In addition to his wife, Barbara Offill of Gilman, he is survived by one daughter, Shelly (Timothy) Gray of Frohna, MO; one son, Scott Offill (special friend, Rachel Kitchens) of Danforth; three grandchildren, Christian, Lauren, and Rebecca Gray; one great-granddaughter on the way; and three brothers and sisters, Marlene Rottman of Highland, IL, John (Susie) Offill of Gilman, and Patty (Tim) Mcginnis of Elbert, CO. Mr. Offill served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church in Watseka. Pete was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed golfing, antique stores, and garage sales. Pete took great joy in visiting with people and making them laugh and smile. He dearly loved his family. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Trinity Church in Watseka. Pastor Ryan Mustered will officiate. Burial will follow at Gilman Cemetery with graveside military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman as well as one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at church. Memorials may be made to Family’s Wishes.
