John W. Hoogstraat Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John W. Hoogstraat, 86, of Piper City, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at OSF St. James Hospital in Pontiac. He was born on June 12, 1935 in Piper City, a son of John and Viola (Alberts) Hoogstraat and they preceded him in death. He married Delores Telford on April 10, 1961 and she preceded him in death on April 1, 1983. John married Terry (Fellers) Donley on November 28, 1992. Surviving are his wife, Terry Hoogstraat of Piper City; one daughter, Sheila Kay Hoogstraat of Urbana; one son, Dennis Allen Hoogstraat of Piper City; two step-children, Bob Donley of Piper City and Lori Ann Baillargeon of Florida; six step-grandsons; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ina Martin of Gilman and Margaret Gilvin of Minnesota; and two brothers, Bob Hoogstraat of Chatsworth and Jim (Linda) Hoogstraat of Mahomet. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Teona Henry and Florance who died at birth; and a daughter, Marcia Hoogstraat. John worked for Hicks Gas in Cullom for 20 years. He was on the Piper City Fire Department of 50 years and was on the SELCAS Ambulance for 20 years. John served in the United States Army. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Westlawn Cemetery in Cullom with Pastor Gabe Baumgardner officiating.
