Veda L. Alberts, 92, Ashkum, IL

Funeral services for Veda Alberts, 92, of Ashkum will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services.  Mrs. Alberts passed away on Saturday morning, February 23, 2013, at the Gilman Healthcare Center following a short illness.  Burial will be in the Ashkum Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  Please sign her guestbook at knappfuneralhomes.com.

Mrs. Alberts was born on April 3, 1920 near Ashkum, the daughter of Carl and Meta Sparenberg Peeken, her parents are deceased. She married Eilt Alberts on January 21, 1938 at Crown Point, IN and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1984. Mrs. Alberts is survived by a son and daughter in law, Jack and Linda Alberts of Ashkum; three granddaughters, Lynne Jones of Danforth, Terri Alberts and companion Rigo Andrade of Ashkum and Marla Seegmiller of Ashkum; three great grandchildren, Ray Seegmiller of Ashkum, and Samantha Bouk and Ryan Bouk of Danforth; and one sister in law, Thelma Peeken of Bradley. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and a grand-son-in-law.

Mrs. Alberts was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum, IL. She had worked as a waitress for 60 yrs. , most notably for the Coral Lounge in Gilman for 25 yrs. and the Tri-K in Kankakee for nine years. She enjoyed cooking and baking (especially pies). She loved the outdoors and enjoyed planting trees.
