Martha Jane Peters, 87, Clifton, IL

Martha Jane Peters, 87, of Clifton passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.

Martha was born January 23, 1925 in Morris Twp., PA, a daughter of W. Leo and Hazel Day Andrew.  She married Richard L. Peters on February 12, 1950 in Old Concord, PA and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. (Sally) Peters of Chebanse and Jonathan A. (Tina) Peters of Montague, MI; one sister, Jean Stewart of Washington, PA; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Bethany, Jill, Abby, Kaitlin, Meredith and Jace; three step-grandchildren, Sarah, Erin and Eric; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Annie and Mitch.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Peters was a member of the United Church of Christ in Chebanse and the Congregational Church in Fremont, MI.  She was a registered  nurse, enjoyed antiques and traveling and was an avid reader.

Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.  Rev. Paul Lamberson will officiate.  Burial was in the Clifton Cemetery.
