Lillian C. Lance, 99, Clifton, IL

Mrs. Lillian Catherine Tucker Lance passed away at the  home of her daughter, Joan Gross, in Clifton on Monday Feb. 18, 2013 at the age of 99. Private burial will take place in the Clifton Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Private family services will take place at a later date. The Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lance was born on May 5, 1913 in Opdyke, IL, the daughter of Lewis Edward Tucker  and Amy  Jane Addkisson.  Her parents are deceased.  She married Hollis Edward Lance on November 2, 1935 at Benton, IL.  He preceded her in death on October 6, 1985. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by two siblings; a son, Louis Edward Lance; a daughter, Barbara June Lance; a granddaughter, Christien Lance and a great grandson, Anthony Devine.  

Surviving are a son, Hollis Earl Lance (Rita) of Mountain, WI; four daughters, Sharon Elaine Egan, Shirley Jane Pelletier (Vince) and Eva Louise Sitzes all of Phoenix, AZ and Joan Gross of Clifton.  There are 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren.

She was a founding member of the Clifton Baptist Church and  played the piano and taught  Sunday School classes for many different churches  over the years. She was a woman of great faith in God and lived her life as an example of that faith.
