James C. Norton, 81, Watseka, IL

James C. Norton, 81, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

James was born September 20, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI, a son of Lyle and Helen Swartz Norton.  He married Marie Johnson on July 17, 1957 in Nashville, TN and she survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Julie (Rodger) Morefield of Watseka; one son, Bill (Linda) Norton of Heyworth; and four grandsons, Ryan Morefield, Tyler Morefield, Taylor Norton and Nick Norton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Norton.

Mr. Norton served in the Air Force.  He was a member of the Watseka American Legion Post #23, Kankakee VFW, First Christian Church in Watseka and Vintage Squadron of Kankakee.  James was a pressman at Uarco in Watseka for 33-1/2 years. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.  Rev. Dr. Charles Witte will officiate.  Burial will be in Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois with military graveside rites by the Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
