Erma M. Meier, 96, Martinton, IL

Funeral services for 96 year old Erma M. Meier of Martinton will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton.  The Rev. William Callister will officiate.  Mrs. Meier passed away Thursday morning, April 26, 2012, at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth following a short illness.  Friends may call at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and again 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery.

Mrs. Meier was born on August 11, 1915 in Chenoa, the daughter of Fred and Carrie Highstreet Johnson.  She married Delbert “Buck” Meier at Crown Point, IN on November 3, 1934 and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1993.

Surviving are one daughter, Darlene Kult of Fowler, IN; one son, Donald (Velma) Meier of Chebanse; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one son, Allen; and one grandson, Gregory.

Mrs. Meier was a homemaker and farm wife, providing meals for many years when the men were in the fields.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially sewing.  Erma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton.

Memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, Iroquois Memorial Hospice or donor’s choice.
