Donald A. Wichman, 84, Stockland, IL

Don Wichman Obit PicDonald A. Wichman, 84, a lifelong resident of Stockland passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his home.

Don was born February 14, 1928 in Stockland, the son of Theodore and Elsie Small Wichman.  He married Kathryn Schuler on June 20, 1954 in Martinton and she preceded him in death in 1986.  He later married Laurel Meyers on June 6, 1987 in Milford and she survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Andrea Wichman of Chicago; one sister, Alice Hitchings of Rensselaer, IN; one nephew, Melvin (Mary) Hitchings of Brook, IN; and one niece, Nancy Bailey of Rensselaer, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Wichman.

Mr. Wichman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Milford Christian Church, serving various roles on the Board, was Missions Chariman and was a member of International Flying Farmers, having served as a chapter officer and director.  He was a salesman for Golden Harvest Seed.  Don enjoyed flying and restoring his Model T.  His lifelong passion was farming and did so in the Stockland area for over 65 years.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Milford Christian Church.  Revs. Brent Zastrow, Gary Milton and Neil Larimore will officiate.  Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Milford Christian Church and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Milford Christian Church, Stockland Fire Dept. or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
