Don L. Long, 93, Milford, IL

Don L. Long, 93, of Milford passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL.

He was born August 30, 1918 in Watseka, a son of Cory A. and Sarah M. John Long. He married Dorothy M. Davis on September 28, 1940 in Davenport, IA and she preceded him in death on October 3, 1993.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Joe (Connie) Long of Chebanse; one daughter, Sharon (Harland) Schroeder of Watseka; one step-sister, Marian Ferry of Rogers, AR; four grandchildren, Cory (Brett) Long of Clifton, Stanton (Sarah) Long of Mt. Juliet, TN, Kirk (Nicole) Schroeder of Ann Arbor, MI and Shelisa Schroeder of Grants Pass, OR; and six great-grandchildren, Hudson, Halle, Elizabeth and Eli Long and Megan and Andrea Theriau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arthur Long.

Don was a life-time farmer. He was a member of Woodland Methodist Church, the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau and Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a volunteer and trustee of the Woodland Fire Dept. for over 25 years and a former trustee of Belmont Twp.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Body Cemetery in Woodland. Rev. Sandy Onken will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Woodland Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Donor’s Choice.
