Kathleen “Katie” Marcotte, 75, Ashkum, IL

Kathleen “Katie” Marcotte, 75, of Ashkum, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Provena Heritage Village in Kankakee, IL.

Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 12, at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton, IL with a 4:30 p.m. Prayer Service. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum. Rev. James Holup will officiate. Burial will be at Ashkum Catholic Cemetery in Ashkum, IL.

Mrs. Marcotte was born Feb. 13, 1935 in Kankakee, IL, a daughter of Melvin and Gertrude McLaughlin O’Connor. She married Robert Marcotte on Oct. 20, 1956 in Chebanse, IL and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1988.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Kathy Marcotte of Towanda, IL and Ken and Patsy Marcotte of Momence, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen “Kathy” and Bill Davis of Fairbury, IL and Jane and John Miller of Clifton, IL; one sister, Patricia Hertz of Chebanse; and six grandchildren, Christin and Caitlyn Dundas and Derek and Dylan Miller all of Clifton and Zackery and Elizabeth Marcotte of Towanda.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Melvin “Barney”, Gerald, Raphael “Ray” and Myron “Mike” O’Connor.

Mrs. Marcotte was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Ashkum, IL, as well as their Council of Catholic Women. She helped in the formation of Perpetual Adoration at Assumption BVM and also attended a pilgrimage to Medugorje, Yugoslavia. She was a 1953 graduate from Central High School. She was a volunteer for several local nursing homes and retired from Hunt Terrace in Kankakee. She was an avid Chicago and Notre Dame sports fan, but especially loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, music events and other activities.

Memorials may be made for Masses or Donor’s Choice.
