Robert “Bud” Peters, 81, of Watseka, IL passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.
Visitation will run from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka, where military graveside rites will be accorded by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.
Mr. Peters was born Jan. 29, 1929 in Watseka, IL, a son of Ernest and Pearl Cahoe Peters. He married Bonnie Hemp on June 9, 1962 in Philo, IL and she preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1991. He then married Sandra Kuhlman Elliott on Oct. 10, 1992 in Watseka and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Bobbi Peters and fiance Scott Laten of Scottsdale, AZ, Sally and John Emmert of Bloomington, IL, Tammy Bohlmann and fiance Curtis Hubert of Watseka, and Vicki and Kurt Olson of Pataskala, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Stacey Elliott of Johnson City, TN; and ten grandchildren, Alexandra Matossian, Kelsey Emmert, Haley Emmert, Cassie Elliott, Paige Elliott, Vanessa Elliott, Samantha Daniels, Cody Daniels, Madeline Olson and Michael Olson.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Peters served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka, the Watseka Elks Lodge, the Watseka American Legion Post #23, and the Iroquois County VFW Post #7450. After retiring from farming, he was employed by the Secretary of State Driver License Bureau for several years and was later employed for thirteen years by the City of Watseka. He was an avid pilot who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and farming. Bud was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
