Wayne Eugene Bowton, 91, Charlotte, NC

Wayne Eugene Bowton, age 91, of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital.  Born March 2, 1919 in Sheldon, IL, he was a son of the late Wilton and Cloa Eastburn Bowton.  Mr. Bowton retired as a welder of Inland Steel Company after 26 years of service.  He enjoyed traveling and building houses, boats and planes.  Mr. Bowton was known for his ability to repair any object.

The service to celebrate the life of Wayne Eugene Bowton will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon, IL with the Rev. Van Haas officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Sheldon Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Lois Bowton Marek and her husband, James, of Charlotte, NC, two sons, Robert Bowton and his wife, Diane, of Hillsboro, OR and Jerry Bowton and his wife, Patricia, of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowton was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda Laffern Bowton; a brother, Donald Bowton; and a sister, Irene Bowton Goin.
