Glenna Jean Shallenberger-York, 76, Watseka, IL

Glenna York Obit picGlenna Jean Shallenberger-York, 76, of Watseka, IL, formerly of Milford, IL passed away on Feb. 6, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Watseka.

Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove in Milford, IL.

Mrs. Shallenberger-York was born Dec. 11, 1933 in Pekin, IL, a daughter of Glen and Nina Bright McCance. She first married Bill Shallenberger on Jan. 1, 1959 in Pekin, IL. She later married LeRoy “Rudy” York on July 13, 2001 in Florida. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2009.

Survivors of Mrs. Shallenberger-York include two sons, Steven Rowell of Watseka and Bill Shallenberger of Uncasville, CT; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and James Dearth and Judy Thomas and Bill Hoover Jr. all of Watseka and Teresa and Roy Kohl of Hoopeston, IL; three step-sons, Stephen York of Manteno, Dale and his wife, Kathy, Emmerson of Lisle and Don “Red” Emmerson of L’Erable; fourteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Shallenberger-York was an LPNĀ  at Iroquois Resident Home for eighteen years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, crocheting and playing cards, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
