Evelyn M. Heeren, 90, Milford, IL

Evelyn M. Heeren, 90, of Milford, IL passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 at Iroquois Residence Home in Watseka.

Visitation will run from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford and also for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Feb. 4 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Schwer. Rev. Matt Steendahl will officiate. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Schwer.

Mrs. Heeren was born Nov. 14, 1919 in Milford Township, a daughter of Herman and Anna VanHoveln Smith. She married Harry A. Heeren on Sept. 23, 1938 in Schwer. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2007.

Surviving Mrs. Heeren are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrill and Dave Grimes of Gresham, OR and Annette and Tim Storm of Milford; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Judy Heeren of Colorado Springs, CO, John and Marcyann Heeren of Westville, IL and Wendell and Carole Heeren of Milford; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Heeren was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schwer, where she taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the church choir. She was known for her special occasion cakes and cookies at Christmas.
