Joefina Martinez Avalos, 46, of Onarga, IL

Josefina Martinez Avalos died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at her home.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gilman, IL. Rev. Anthony Taschetta will officiate.

Mrs. Avalos was born November 10, 1962 in Casacuaran Gto. Mexico, a daughter of Rafael and Maria Luisa Hernandez Martinez. She married Jesus Avalos on November 8, 1980 in Casacuaran Gto. Mexico. He survives.

Other survivors of Mrs. Avalos include two sons, Jesus Avalos Jr. of Abilene, TX and Cesar Avalos of University Park, IL; one daughter, Karen Avalos of Onarga, IL; four sisters, Araceli Moreno and Rosalva Rivera, both of Kankakee, IL, Leticia Zavala of Onarga, IL and Veronica Pizano of Mexico; three brothers, Rafael Martinez and Gilberto Martinez, both of St. Anne, IL and Manuel Martinez of Kankakee, IL; her parents, Rafael and Maria Martinez of Mexico; and one grandchild.

Josefina worked at Bork Nurseries. She was a member of Immaculate Conception/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gilman. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
